Lynne Larson’s artwork in oil and pastel is inspired by the beauty of the South Carolina Lowcountry and the Maine coast. Her work seeks to evoke memory and emotion through the use of bold color, close observation and a deep love of nature.
A former science journalist and editor, Lynne believes in the power of an image to inspire, engage and encourage imagination.
“I try to paint in the vein of a photojournalist. My goal is to capture or interpret a moment in time, then pull the viewer into a narrative. My art aims to be a physical representation of story and emotion.”
Lynne has studied with noted artists in Maine, South Carolina, and the Providence Art Club, the second oldest art club in the United States, where she exhibited in annual shows that draw artists and collectors from throughout Southern New England. She holds a B.S. in Journalism from Middle Tennessee State University and, under a pen name, is a published novelist.
When not painting, Lynne may be found birdwatching the marsh surrounding her South Carolina island home, gardening, or reading with her cats and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Dash.
